We welcome you at the webpage of the Constitutional Court Database (CCDB). The database is the primary outcome of the research project “The Federal Constitutional Court as a Veto Player“, initially conducted at the University of Mannheim and Leibniz University of Hannover. The project aims to understand the interaction between a constitutional court, the executive and legislative branches as well as the society at large. In order to assess the relationships, we use the German political system with its Federal Constitutional Court as our major case. The CCDB contains information on constitutional court decisions and links them to data on legislative proceedings as well as the political and societal context.
The project was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2011 to 2015 and part of the Eigth’s Research Programme of the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). Scholars involved are nowadays at the University of Mannheim, Leibniz University of Hannover, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
